Her breathing heavy, she manages to get back onto her feet, “What the fuck is wrong with you?!”
The person doesn’t respond with words. Instead, they try to lunge at Suzume again, but she dodges with a side step this time. During her side step, her heel kicks the dagger, sending it over the edge and onto the first floor, “Shit!”
Unable to stop the lunge, the person crashes into the second floor railing; it gives way to the weight and breaks, sending the person falling to the first floor. Suzume approaches the ledge and looks over. Whoever, or whatever that person was isn’t moving after the fall. Just a few inches away from the body is the dagger. Taking a moment to figure out the risk, Suzume decides it’s better to have some kind of protection with her, so she descends the stairs for the weapon.
When she gets off of the last step, she stops and keeps her eyes on the body, making sure it isn’t moving. Suzume gets on her knees and crawls over to the dagger, trying to reach for it without having to get too close. The dagger brushes against her finger tips, but she manages to get a grip on it. Armed, she gets on her feet again and takes a step towards the body.
The body comes back to life and snaps at Suzume, trying to reach for her foot, but she’s far enough that it doesn’t grab. No longer considering it a person, Suzume looks at the creature and sees its legs have snapped in the wrong direction, bone sticking out.
“Even if it can’t move… It shouldn’t even be alive. Hell, it shouldn’t even exist.” Suzume has a moment of judgment, deciding to bring an end to the creature. She kicks the creatures hand out of the way and drives the dagger straight into the creature’s head with brute force. Wedged into its skull, Suzume has to stomp on the head in order to get the dagger back out.
“There…”
Sure that it’s lifeless, Suzume gets a closer look at the body. Even though it was just alive and moving, its entire body is cold as ice. She then notices a weird frost traveling up from its foot and covering it’s body. In an instant, the body cracks and shatters into shards right in front of Suzume’s eyes. However, something was left behind in its place. A key with a flower etched into it.
