Gluttony, one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Some acknowledge it as the deadly sin of them all. Other think of it as one of the easiest to overcome and endure. It all depends on just how far the sin as taken over the person’s entire being, the body, soul, and mind. As for The King, his gluttonous ways drove him to become who he his now.
Day after day, every waking hour, he was at the dining table, gorging himself with food. He paid no mind to the welfare and needs of the townsfolk outside. The Queen took over to the best of her ability while he ate, but she could only do so much. His personal servants cowered in fear, forced to bring more food to him or fear the threat of public execution.
Matilda saw The King’s rapid growth, and knew this wasn’t going to end well.
The King devoured everything in front of him as his servants were his bystanders, onlooking while everything scrap and crumb vanished from every plate. His lips slapped together after every bite, licking his lips of the juices whenever he came up for air. He seldom said a word, but when it did, it was the same thing.
“More food, peasants!”
Matilda, the main servant, shivered as she watched The King eat.
“He’s like a rabid beast,” she mumbled.
Zoraya came bursting through the kitchen double doors with another platter of food, “Coming!”
The King’s appetite was a curse, always limitless.
