“I see. I apologize. Perhaps that question did–”
“Yes. The main reason behind Honnouji being built is fulfilled.”
Satsuki takes another sip of her tea, her eyes still looking out of the large windows, “Honnouji was built for the sole purpose of eventually taking down Ragyo and preventing her plans from reaching fruition.”
She puts the tea cup down on the small tray next to her and walks up to the window, the sound of her bare footsteps pressing against the marble flooring. Leaning forward a bit to get a better low of down below, focusing on the lowest level of the town: the slums. Unlike the rest of the town, which is made up of luxurious and well maintained buildings and structures, the slums resembles a broken down city, barely holding together from the run down homes. However, it’s just enough for people to live a normal life in.
“In the process, I had to endanger the welfare of all of those who depend on this city as a means of living, a way of life. I even tested the students in obstacles, pitting them against each other in some cases, and even challenging them to fight Ryuko to test their mettle. Rebuilding Honnouji wasn’t done just because I wanted to do it. I gave it a new purpose. I did it because Honnouji is the home for thousands of people. Plus, I feel like there’s something here. Something waiting for me here at Honnouji. I’m not entirely sure, but I will figure out what awaits me.”
Taking in the sight of the night sky, Satsuki changes her gaze and watches the moon. She puts her hands behind her back and stands there motionlessly. She then looks at Soroi’s reflection in the glass, “Soroi. You’ve been around me since I was at the young age of five years old. I can understand if you’re tired of doing the same thing and if you need something new in your life. If you wish to leave–”
“I will never leave.”
Looking indirect at Soroi through the glass, Satsuki keeps her eyes on him; he’s bowing down, his hands folded behind his back. After a moment, he slowly rises back up, “I have seen you grow up from a young child into a grown woman full ambition. No matter what I’ve seen you endure, I have always been at your side. And at your side, I will be ready with tea whenever you ask for it.”
His dedication and persistence brings a small smile to Satsuki’s face. She closes her eyes and nods, “I should have expected you to say that.”
Content with the conversation, Satsuki returns to her seat, legs crossed and leaning back into the chair. Soroi quickly follows behind, refilling her cup and handing it to her.
“Might I suggest something, Miss Satsuki?”
“Go ahead,” Satsuki says before taking a sip of her tea.
“With the newly rebuilt Honnouji, perhaps it’s time for a new lifestyle and new experiences. A young woman your age should have some kind of romantic connection with somebody. Maybe it’s time to explore that option. It seems like Gamagoori has began taking steps to have that kind of experience.”
“A ‘romantic connection’…”
