Sam puts the cap on the pen and puts the list right in my hand. I flip it over and take a look at it, but it takes me a moment to realize what I’m looking at. It obviously looks like a list since the entire thing has bullet points, but the actual words don’t make sense to me; everything’s written in a different language.
Confusion takes over my face as I look at the list, “Uh, Sam… What am I looking at?”
“That’s the grocery list.”
“Yeah, I kinda figured that, but… it’s not in English.”
“I know.”
“Why?”
“You said I was the one writing the list, so I decided to write it in a way that would be easier to think about what we need. So, I wrote it in Japanese.”
“But I can’t read this!”
Sam takes the list back and looks it over with a pout on her face. I let out a small sigh, then notice the green light for me to start driving again. As I’m driving, I come up with a quick idea, “Sam. Could you copy that list into English? When we get to the store, we could split up and find everything we need and get on line faster than usual.”
Sam still has that pout on her face, but she quickly gets over it and starts writing a new list. However, it’s pretty much useless at this point; I arrive at the parking lot for the super market. Thankfully, there aren’t that many cars around, so I find a parking space just as I roll onto the lot.
As we get out of the car, I spot a line-up of shopping carts and ask Sam to go get one while I head to the entrance to the super market. Hopefully, this won’t take too long, and nothing bad will happen. All I can do is hope. And keep an eye on Sam to make sure she doesn’t do something.
“Alexis! Catch me!”
As I’m walking through the parking lot, I can hear Sam laughing really hard coming from behind me. I turn to look back and I see her speeding through, riding inside of a shopping cart.
We didn’t even get inside and she’s already doing something… Damn it.
