I turned the key and unlocked the front door, heading right into my apartment. As I took off my stiletto heels and left them on the shoe mat, I noticed the pair of black dress shoes haphazardly tossed onto it. Even doing something so basic as keeping his shoes organized and neat seemed too much of a hassle for him.
Rolling my eyes, I sorted out the shoes before walking along the wooden floors down to the living room, “If you’re going to continue to live here for the time being, the least you can do is keep my home clean.”
I didn’t bother staying for a reply, I just continued on and headed into the kitchen. My nose quickly picked up the wafting scent of burned bread and an abundance of oregano. I walked over to the stove and saw a collection of opened pots, sauce stains, and an empty box of spaghetti noodles on the counter.
You have to be fucking kidding me…
Seeing all of this in front of me felt like I saw a physical representation of our relationship.
“What the hell were you trying to do in here, Travis? It’s like a pigsty in here.”
After waiting in silence, wanting a response, I left out the kitchen and stormed into the living room. Passed out on the couch lied Travis, still in his black business suit, snoring away. His arm hung off the side, tightly clinging onto an empty, upside-down beer bottle. My eyes glanced down and saw a giant wet spot on the carpet where the bottle was hanging.
I exploded when I saw the spot, “That’s a genuine Egyptian cotton carpet!”
I didn’t care if I disturbed his sleep, I wasn’t about to have him ruin something else in my life. I went over to him and snatched that bottle of his hand. As soon as his relief was literally out of grasp, Travis woke right up in a drunken haze.
“The fuck is going on…?”
“You destroying more things in my life, you messed up my carpet. You’re paying for the bill when I have it sent for cleaning.”
