100 Word Story – Mirror, Mirror (Finale)

It’s never an easy thing facing yourself in the mirror. Most people use it as a time to try and make their outer appearance look good, doing their make-up, fixing their hair, and whatnot. It’s a funny thing, using a mirror to focus on what other can see.

But what about using a mirror to reflect the deepest parts of your mind that you wish to ignore? Using a mirror to have a true one-on-one with yourself in order to get past those negative thoughts? It may sound chaotic and psychotic, but trust and believe.

It’s quite normal, no matter who the person is, and regardless of what they do for a living.

The only lights within my office were the ones coming from my work station: the small, twenty-inch screen, a couple flashing lights on the keyboard, and soft glow of the power button. I sat down in my comfortable chair, turned to the desk, and placed my hands at the keyboard.

My screen had a large wall of text I’ve worked on only a few days ago. I read it over and over, hoping to find a way to continue it. Nothing came to mind.

I sighed and leaned back in my chair, hoping some words would come to mind.

“Damn.”
