100 Word Story – Cave Note (Finale)

It was a strange sight, seeing the man run towards me; he was the first person who actually tried to come and save me. Everybody else ended up either falling off of the cliff, or went insane trying to navigate the twists and turns of the cave.

I almost felt a bit bad about watching him get captured by my shadows on the wall.

I watched him from a couple feet away, his whole body being swallowed by the shadows. Curious, I approached him and went into his pockets, finding the note and taking it.

“Time to trap another one.”

100 Word Story – Cave Note (Part Five)

I couldn’t understand how the girl could keep laughing at a time like this; everything inside this cave was just shrouded in mystery, and she wasn’t even phased by it all.

Along the back wall, I could see a shadowy figure slowly reach out for the girl, strange, thin finger-like tendrils spreading out. The girl just stood there, laughing, looking at me.

I didn’t understand what was going on or why the girl was here, but shew needed to get away. I sprinted forward when the hand went to grab the girl’s head.

“No!”

The girl stopped laughing, “Got you.”

100 Word Story – Cave Note (Part Four)

The girl continued her laughing as she ran around another corner, her footsteps splashing in the growing pools of water. I kept shouting for her to come back, but she ignored everything. My feet grew cold as I stomped through the waters of the cavern, my clothes getting heavier every time I took the wrong step.

Out of breath, I stopped when I reached the next corner, holding onto the walls to keep me from falling over. I looked ahead to see what was down the way, and froze when I saw the girl.

“Hey, get away from there! Now!”

100 Word Story – Cave Note (Part Three)

The cliff above was nowhere in sight from the bottom of the ladder; I couldn’t see no more than a couple of meter above, the torch still in my hand. As I wandered around looking for my next cavern to walk through, I heard a young girl’s laughter coming from nearby. I spun around and saw a girl in a white dress staring at me in the distance.

I asked her if she was okay, but she immediately turned around and began running away, laughing the entire time.

It must be the girl in the note.

“Hey, wait! Come back!”

100 Word Story – Cave Note (Part Two)

The air blowing through the cave grew colder and colder as I followed the torch-lit path. At the end there was an opening leading into a massive cavern. Without any other light source in sight, I grabbed one of the torches from the wall, using it as my guide.

Each step echoed, ringing in my ears as they bounced off the solid walls. I accidentally kicked a pebble, sending it off of a nearby cliff. At the edge was a rope ladder leading down.

Hesitant, I leaned over to look down into the black abyss.

Looks like I’m going down…

100 Word Story – Stress Reliever (Finale)

Finished tending his wounds, Mizue threw a towel across her husband’s body to catch any blood that trickled out. As she placed it she glanced at her husband, their eyes meeting only inches away. His eyes were drowning in tears, from pain, from anger, from his reality as a meat puppet for a murderous wife.

Mizue watched the tears trickle down his face, her cold gaze seeming to make the tears slow down or freeze entirely. Giving into temptation, she leaned over and dragged her tongue across his face, lapping up the warm tears.

“I never loved you,” she whispered.

Her fists slowly became covered in blood as Mizue kept whaling away at the bound husband; old bruises and welts became fresh with marks, stitched wounds began to open, and the man’s cries and pleas were muffled from the cloth in his mouth.

With her arms getting tired and needing a moment to catch her breath, Mizue punched him one last time in the jaw, dislodging a tooth. She backed away and rested her bloodied hands on her hips, mumbling, “God, that was a stress reliever.”

She looked back at her battered husband in disgust, I gotta patch him up.

Reaching into her bra Mizue pulled out a silver key and unlocked the guest bedroom door. As the door opened, she felt around on the wall and flicked a switch to turn on the bright ceiling lights.

The entire room lacked furniture except for a bed in the far corner, and windows that were boarded up with planks of wood. On top of the bed was a man, bound by his wrists and ankles to the bed frame. Gagged with a dark cloth, all he could do was stare in fright as Mizue approached him.

“Hello, husband. Feeling any better?”

Mizue already had her heels off before reaching the house, leaving them right by the door once she got inside; she stretched and felt her body crack all over.

“I’m home,” she called out, heading for the kitchen area. The house was silent, no response or reply coming to her. She opened the fridge and pulled out a beer, using the bottle opener magnet on the fridge door, “Huh. He must be asleep.”

Mizue walked to the main hallway, stopping in front of the steps. She took a sip of beer and grabbed the railing, Let’s go wake him up.

100 Word Story – Stress Reliever (Part One)

The cries of the crows signaled the end of the day, the sun beginning its slow descent behind the horizon. The city’s inhabitants were finishing up their business in town, gathering around and crowding the train stations and bus stops to go home. Luckily for Mizue, she managed to find a seat as soon as the train doors opened.

Letting her shoulders drop, Mizue let out a mental sigh, trying to forget about the stress from the office, the gentle rocking of the moving train easing her mind.

I need a vacation from that place, too much pressure on me.

100 Word Story – Watch the Window (Finale)

The class screamed out to Henry, pleading for him to back away from the window ledge. He kept his arms out wide, his back towards the wide, open school grounds below.

Henry’s breath was stuck with heavy pants, his urge to please the girl growing. “Like this? Is this how you wanted me?”

Far on the other side of the room, the girl was stuck with a nasty grin, nodding as Henry put his life on the line. Among the loud commotion in the classroom, she mouthed the words, “Do it.”

His intentions clear, Henry took one last step back.

100 Word Story – Watch the Window (Part Four)

Henry quickly became infatuated by the girl’s smile; he was thinking about how, out of everybody in the room, the girl focused solely on him. He started to wonder what would have happened if he never looked away from the window.

The girl saw that Henry was focusing on her, and motioned for him to come to her desk. Ignoring the distance, and the small chatter of students between them, Henry navigated the sea of desks in order to get closer.

The girl opened her mouth to speak, and Henry knelt on one leg.

“The window—jump out of it.”
