Do you remember when you were young and all of the children on the playground would play simple games of “Truth or Dare?” Do you remember that one kid who everybody teased all because he or she was so easily frightened?
Did you ever have to do a dare that made you quake in your shoes? Made you run away crying? Perhaps urinate out of fear?
Well, today was young Shane’s turn to do a dare. And it’s all because he couldn’t keep his timid mouth shut.
The boys kept mocking young Shane for his timid behavior, saying that he wouldn’t go up to “The Door” on the other side of the playground.
“I too can walk over there,” Shane yelled back. His growing anger took over, making him say things he would soon regret, “I can so walk over no problem.”
The other boys all gave each other a laughing grin, egging Shane on, daring him to go up and open the door.
His entire body froze after realizing what kind of problem he got himself into. However, Shane couldn’t back down now, “It’s a dare!”
