It has been a yearly ritual ever since they were born, a ritual that grew more and more dangerous with each passing year. In the beginning it was something they looked forward to. Now it was torture for the three of them.
Last year was their biggest and most dangerous ritual. They were afraid of having to relive those memories, those haunting, disturbing memories that kept them up at night.
This year, they were planning ahead; they were going to survive by any means possible.
“Ohh, here come my grand-babies!”
Leon, Bryan, and Sera all tried their best not to cringe after hearing their grandmother’s high-pitch squeal; none of them thought somebody so old could still be so loud.
Ready to finally put their plan into action, Leon gave his siblings a nod, and the trio proceeded to slowly walk towards their grandmother. Right before they were within arm’s reach, they began coughing in unison. Adding to the dramatics, they all fell to their knees, collapsing on the ground.
Grandmother Jocelyn shot up from her seat in an obvious fright, worried for her grand-babies’ well-being.
