I sat in silence as Anna placed her order with our personal server, not having to take a glance at her menu. I read over mine, completely unsure of what I was looking for. I’ve never had authentic Italian food before, all I’ve had was canned stuff that was cheap at the grocery store.
“And for you, Signorina?”
I hid behind my menu, acting as if I was intently looking over it as the server called out to me. He called out to me again, and I felt myself slowly sliding down my chair.
I’m so far out of my league here. I don’t even know what to order.
“Bring her a bottle of that new sweet rovero you recently received. As for food, the classic-style spaghetti will do.”
I peeked my head from behind my menu and saw Anna smiling at me. The server nodded and quickly dashed off into the restaurant, leaving the two of us alone.
“I take it this is your first time coming here?” Anna politely asked.
I brought my menu down and nodded, “I don’t go out to eat that often. If I do, it’s usually from the same spots over and over again. I do go out to have a drink by myself once a week or so.”
Anna raised her eyebrow, interested in me talking about my habits. She leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table. I couldn’t help but notice the top of her breasts wanting to burst out from the top of her dress.
Don’t stare, don’t stare, don’t stare.
Anna chuckled, most likely following which way my eyes were looking. “You should explore around the town a bit more. There’s a lot out there that you need to experience, especially with somebody next to you.”
My cheeks started burning. My hands had a slight anxious tremble in them. My chest felt tighter. My mind knew Anna wanted me to come out of my comfort zone and try new things, but my body was hoping that something else would happen.
Hesitant to find out an answer, I asked, “Have any recommendations for places I should go?”
Anna gave a sly grin, “My house.”
