100 Word Story – Mother & Daughter (Part Finale)

The black bag quickly sank below the water’s surface, vanishing into the dark, cold trench beneath. We waited on the dock, watching to see if it would suddenly float back up. Five minutes passed and nothing happened, the water coming back to an eerie stillness.

“There,” I said, heading back to the car. “Like it never even happened.”

Samantha’s footsteps followed behind, a small distance between us. She started sobbing when we got back into our seats.

I wiped the tears from her eyes, giving her a small smile, “Don’t tell anybody about this. Got it?”

She nodded, “Yes, Mom.”

100 Word Story – Mother & Daughter (Part Four)

Most of the car ride was in silence, me focusing on the empty roads while Samantha lost herself in the passenger side window, obviously deep in thought. I took a quick glance at her, seeing her let out a loud sigh.

“You alright, dear?” I asked, trying to keep my tone light.

“I’m still thinking about how I killed that man,” she admitted, whispering as if a stranger was nearby eavesdropping. Her hands were trembling in her lap. “Mom, I’m scared. I don’t want to go to jail…”

I reached over and held Samantha’s hand, consoling her, “You won’t. Promise.”

100 Word Story – Mother & Daughter (Part Three)

“There’s nobody outside right now.”

I tossed my key ring to Samantha, and she caught it with both hands. “Go bring the car around. Back it up all the way onto the curb without driving on the lawn.”

Nodding, Samantha dashed back into the house and headed for the garage. Out on the front step of the house I looked up and down the streets, the cover of the nighttime sky protecting me from any unwanted attention. I put on a pair of plastic gloves and dragged the trash bag to the curb, seeing a limp arm fall out.

“Fuck.”

100 Word Story – Mother & Daughter (Part Two)

“Mom, the blood isn’t coming up—it’s still sticking to the wood.”

“Keep using the paper towels, dear. Just get up what you can.”

Samantha grabbed the last few pieces of paper towels and did one large swipe across the floorboards. The paper tore, forcing her to toss it into the nearby trash bag.

“We’re out of paper towels,” she announced with fright. I heard her come running to me, in the kitchen. “What do we have left to use?”

I let go of the hacksaw, feeling its sharp edge stuck in the bone of the home intruder, “Bathroom towels.”

100 Word Story – Mother & Daughter (Part One)

“When did this happened?” I shouted angrily. “I was only gone for five minutes, and this happens.”

Samantha was rushing to clean up the mess between us, the mop quickly soaking up the liquids on the floor. “I’m sorry, Mom,” she pleaded, her voice panicked. She rung the mop out in the small bucket next to the mess and continued cleaning, “I didn’t have a choice. The guy broke through the window, and I had to stop him.”

There was a giant red trail leaning from back in the living room to here.

I ordered her to get the bleach.

100 Word Story – Worm Boy

“Five bucks says you won’t have the guts to eat that worm.”

Dean looked at me, then at the worm in the dried mud puddle. The worm was confused as it tried to bury itself in the dried mud. It eventually gave up and just wiggled around.

Dead was always nervous and freaked out by bugs and stuff, but when he heard money was involved he suddenly became brave. He pinched the worm up and asked, “Five bucks?”

I pulled a five dollar bill from my shorts pocket, “Five bucks.”

In one bite Dean slurped the worm like wet spaghetti.

100 Word Story – Scissors

My legs felt numb, absolutely no sensation whatsoever. I couldn’t even feel the cold sting of the shackles around my ankles. My brain commanded my toes to try and wiggle but got no response or movement. My breathing started picking up, my heavy breaths seeming to echo in my ears. My sight started going hazy, everything rocking from side to side. In the distance I could hear a pair of shoes approaching me.

I lifted my head up and saw a young girl coming to me, massive, rusty scissors in her hand.

“It’s time for your operation, Mother. Lie still!”

100 Word Story – Obligations

While I was working I missed out in a lot of things: birthdays, funerals, family gatherings, lots of very social things. These were things that I never cared about, most likely never attending even if I had that day off. I just didn’t like interacting with others.

However, there was one event that I missed, and I still hate myself for missing it.

“Rebecca, look! Junior’s walking!”

My husband kept saying those words in the video of our son struggling to walk across the carpet. I couldn’t help but cry, not because I was happy, but because I wasn’t there.

100 Word Story – Weakling

He kept crying, his eyes an endless waterfall of tears. It started to get on my nerves.

I leaned in and punched him right in his face, “Man up and stop crying like a baby.” I watched him for a moment to see how he’d react. Now, aside from crying even harder, his nose was crooked and bled to no end. I sighed, grabbing his nose and straightening it. He screamed out in pain, twitching uncontrollably.

Seeing him so weak, all I could do was watch him die, disgusted at his lack of resolve.

“I should just kill you now.”

Volume Control

I think over the course of one minute, the guy’s hand was flailing in front of my face at least twenty times. Even if I was looking down at my screen, just minding my own business, a few of his fingers would pop up in my line-of-sight.

“Dude, I like them with the fat ass! Like, this big!”

Just from the conversation alone, I could tell why his hand appeared in my sight again. With my head still down at my phone I glanced out of the corner of my eye and saw the guy—bald head, wearing a beige leather coat and an opened button-up shirt—leaning back with his arms as wide as possible. He kept going on and on, talking about how he’d like to have a chance to have sex with a woman with an ass that large. In his right hand was a half-full glass of dark beer, his fingers barely keeping a grip on it. The guys on the other side of him we’re laughing at his conquest.

The man let out a burp before he came back onto the bar counter, “I-I see you laughin,’ but I’m real! I’ll stick my dick in a big-ass ass.” He took a big swig of his beer and slammed it back down. He took in a big gasp and yelled out, “I’ll find a chick like that—I like big butts!”

I wanted to discreetly listen in on the conversation for as long as I could, but I couldn’t help but to turn my head and look to my right. I could feel my eyes squinting, in confusion at the drunk man next to me. My brain tried to keep up with the conversation, but he quickly jumped back and forth from talking about asses and the laughing person next to him.

You are one strange, bald man.

Originally, I had came to the bar to just relax and unwind from a stressful day at work—a common thing to do. I just wanted to have a nice drink and browse around on my phone for an hour or two, maybe chat it up with one of the bartenders for a bit. Never did I imagine I’d hear such a strange conversation going on next to me. And yet, I couldn’t get enough. Before I knew it, I had my drink tight in my hand as I continued to listen to the drunk man, not even trying to hide the fact that I was listening.

I laughed at the thought, it’s great that he can’t control the volume of his voice. More comedy gold for me.

100 Word Story – Hold Up

Police was all around me, surely surrounding the building from every possible exit. The sound of helicopter blades whirled overhead, and the local media was trying to cover the entire event from safety behind the barricade of cars out front.

I pointed my gun at one of the tellers, “You, redhead. Get over here!”

It was a man, and he readily followed my instructions, knowing his life was in danger if he didn’t listen. When he got in front of me I smacked him across the face with the pistol and grabbed his neck, holding him close.”

“Follow me, bitch.”

100 Word Story – Show Me

Veronica dropped to her knees and held onto my hips, burying her face in my stomach, her cries muffed against my sweatshirt. She continued pleading for forgiveness, digging her nails into my hips.

All romantic feelings I had for her were quickly dying off, my eyes now seeing her as nothing but an unnecessary person in my life. I grabbed a clump of her hair and pulled her head back, forcing her watery eyes to look up at me.

She begged, “Please, Sheryl, give me another chance! I promise I won’t mess up!”

“Show me your phone,” I scowled. “Now.”
