“Shigeru Otawa… That is a name I haven’t heard in years.”
With his two Azuma shadows behind him, Lord Gohda stands just in front of the room window, overlooking the quiet town; the twilight sun is slowly setting, blanketing the area in a bright orange glow. As he looks down at the town, he watches people walking about, finishing any business before the moon rises. He puts his hands behind his back and continues speaking.
“He was once a guard for this castle. He was well as a guard, and even better swordsman; everywhere he went, his blade followed. It was very intimidating for those who walked by him. Although he never drew his blade upon women and children, he would quickly draw against anybody’s view points and morals who differed against his.”
Lord Gohda takes a deep breath and lets out a long sigh.
“That’s why I had to remove him from his duty. One night, the guards were discussing different ways the nation could be unified. Many of then knew war was a possibility, but still valued the chance of peaceful negotiations. Otawa, however, felt like absolute victory in war was the only true solution to true peace. He believed in victory by any means necessary; he drew his blade to one of the guards, but he was stopped before things escalated further. He was removed from the castle that night.”
As usual, Rikimaru is in the middle of the room, kneeling down on one knee, while Ayame is leaning against the wall next to the window. Ayame’s next to speak.
“Based on the size of that cleaver he had, I’m sure he’s taken a few lives in order to make sure he got his point across. Sure as hell would make butchering a whole lot easier to do, if anybody could even lift it.”
“Sad to say, I expect that he’s taken a few lives traveling from town to town in order to gain allies for this new warlord. If Otawa has sided with somebody, that can only mean that whoever he is under has a very dangerous and deadly set of morals for unification.”
Lord Gohda turns around to face Rikimaru and Ayame, “Gohda territory is obviously the first major event for the beginning of a new war campaign. We must stop it before it begins.”
Rikimaru puts his head down before he speak, “Allow me to scout out the surrounding territories for more information regarding this warlord.”
“No need, Rikimaru. I already have sent out more ninja to collect any clues and information regarding Shigeru Otawa and his lord. With the new information we gathered from Ayame’s last assignment, I have something specific I want you to do; it may give us a small advantage.”
