100 Word Story – Chest Pains (Part Two)

There are things in life that are just destined or determined to be out of our control. Evolution is always going to happen, whether or not humans or animals had any major influence in the course of something changing over time. Human genetics and DNA are predetermined, from what our physical appearance will be at birth, all the way to whether we get cancer or not.

There are just some things that are meant to be out of our control, whether we like it or not.

And sometimes, personal suffering and the suffering of others will be determined for us as well. The best we can do is hope for the best and believe that we’ll live against all odds. If we live, then it was already in the cards. If we die and parish…

It was expected.

Super Annoying Supervisor

I swear to God, if you don’t get the fuck away from me, I’m going to do something you’re gonna regret.

I tried my best not to pay any mind to the dancing man at the end of the aisle. Taking my time restocking the shelves with brand new wine bottles that arrived today, each bottle clinking as the glass hits one another, I made it my mission not to give this man any of my time or attention when I was actually trying to work.

* * * * *

I sped down the bustling city streets at twenty miles an hour on my electric scooter, making sharp, hard turns onto new streets and even more traffic, openly ignoring red lights if I knew I’d make it, and yelling at pedestrians to move when they proudly stood in the bike lane. Along the way, while I stopped at a red light that was too packed with cars to pass, I chatted with a biker. Turns out he was preparing himself for the upcoming city triathlon, and that he was biking for the last two hours nonstop.

He pointed down and my eyes followed, noticing his bulging thigh resting on the bike peddle. My eyes widened when I saw the massive vein protruding from the side, ready to burst if I poked it with my fingernail.

“Well goddamn,” I said in awe. “This must what the body looks like when you’re training for something so intense.”

The man laughed with pride, flexing his thigh, “Two-hour bike rides every day for the last seven years. My legs are more ripped than a body builder’s arm.”

It looks like it’s filled with more steroids, too, I thought.

100 Word Story – Mirror, Mirror (Finale)

It’s never an easy thing facing yourself in the mirror. Most people use it as a time to try and make their outer appearance look good, doing their make-up, fixing their hair, and whatnot. It’s a funny thing, using a mirror to focus on what other can see.

But what about using a mirror to reflect the deepest parts of your mind that you wish to ignore? Using a mirror to have a true one-on-one with yourself in order to get past those negative thoughts? It may sound chaotic and psychotic, but trust and believe.

It’s quite normal, no matter who the person is, and regardless of what they do for a living.

The Fourth Wall

The Fourth Wall

Howdy, y’all. I hope you’ve had a nice and relaxing weekend. It’s been a scorcher all week all over. I’ve been stuck in the blazing heat working (I went back to my old job, woohoo) and I’ve been coming home just drenched in sweat. And let me tell you, I hate the heat. But enough about my boring week.

So today, I come to you with a little… experiment. Remember a couple months back when I talked about the new laptop I bought and the new things I could do with it? If you don’t check out – “So I Did A Thing… And I May Keep It.”

Music is a powerful tool. From creating mental images from sound, helping somebody fight their inner demons and breakthrough difficult times in their life, or even help mask the sound of taking a life, music has its number of uses. It can be used as a signal to start a major event. When toyed with and manipulated, it can help turn a barren hallway into one lively dance floor. Or, if you’re a much simpler person, music can just be something nice to listen to.

People sing along to the lyrics they hear, or even freestyle when they hear a song with no words. Remixing on the fly with hands for drums and feet for beats, music can be made anywhere and anytime. It’s just as diverse as people: no two songs are exactly the same, all being flavored with different flair. Music is just spectacular.

It can help you forget the stressful part of life, helping you ease right on through. With enough practice, it can even put a person in a trance.

With the sounds of the hectic city drowned out by my music, I ran through the rural streets towards the train station.

My head kept bobbing as the rhythm took over my body, the snares acting like audio signals for my movements.

He turned his attention to my headphones that were near the train car door, “Your singing was nothing but loud, obnoxious noise to me and the others.”

Late-Night Rush Hour

Late-Night Rush Hour

Being stuck on the closing shift at work is never really an enjoyable thing. Having to start your day by coming into work during the busiest hour of the day and having to stay until it’s as quiet as a graveyard can be quite annoying, especially if you’ve been stuck on that shift for over two years. On top of that, being forced to deal with customers all while holding a fake smile on your face makes all the worse.

But once you finally finish up closing the store for the night—counting the drawers, printing out the daily sales reports, cashing out any tips left from deliveries—hearing that metal shutter slam down every night is an amazing thing to hear. Walking through the city all while letting the nigh breeze naturally cool you off is such a relaxing thing to have when walking to the trains to take you home.

This became my nightly routine. After dealing with a stressful day at work, that brief walk to the trains helped me unwind as I waited for the trains to take me home. Normal as usual. Continue reading Late-Night Rush Hour

August Note – 8/31/2019

The room filled with the bright orange hue of the setting sun flashing through the window blinds. The calm breeze danced around, bringing the scent of freshly cut grass into the room. The wandering cat crossed into the sun’s light, its brown eyes shining straight at the only person in the room.

However, even with the tranquil scene in front, Luka continued to stare up at the ceiling, trying to focus on the train of thought constantly derailing.

With a heavy sigh, Luka shook her head, “Everything’s just been so crazy lately. It’s crazy how just one thing can turn everything else on its head.”

The cat let out a gentle cry, prancing towards Luka and jumping onto her lap. Luka’s eyes came down from the ceiling and focused on the cat.

“I’ll make the right move. I promise.” Continue reading this Monthly Note
